Job Title: Supplier Manufacturing Engineer

Compensation: $50.00 - $80.00
Overview
System One is seeking a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to support critical suppliers by driving manufacturing execution, quality, and delivery performance across a regulated environment. Expect up to ~50% travel for on-site supplier evaluations, capacity assessments, process audits, and first-article/readiness reviews.
You’ll act as the primary manufacturing engineering liaison to suppliers—leading root cause/corrective actions, coordinating inspection/audit readiness, and partnering closely with engineering, quality, sourcing, and program teams. Success in this role means being highly hands-on, proactive, and comfortable influencing supplier outcomes through clear communication, documentation, and disciplined follow-through.
Responsibilities
- Support purchasing initiatives by identifying and developing critical suppliers
- Serve as primary manufacturing engineering liaison to suppliers, ensuring consistent production execution
- Evaluate supplier processes and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Build strong supplier relationships to improve communication, yield, and throughput
- Lead technical reviews including PFMEA, control plans, process audits, and first article readiness
- Conduct supplier capacity assessments and on-site evaluations
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for manufacturing nonconformances
- Coordinate supplier readiness for inspections, audits, and regulatory/customer visits
- Support nonconformance dispositioning and resolution activities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, sourcing, and program teams
- Share best practices across internal and supplier organizations
- Travel up to 50% (domestic and/or international)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience
- Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment with experience in one or more of the following:
- Machining
- Fabrication / Welding
- Testing
- Winding or Assembly processes
- Experience working directly with suppliers (on-site preferred)
- Experience in regulated industries (nuclear, defense, aerospace, or energy)
- Strong understanding of quality systems (e.g., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience with procedures, work instructions, and design documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills related to manufacturing tolerances and deviations
- Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Experience evaluating design changes and manufacturing impacts
- Familiarity with military or nuclear quality standards

- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
