    Job Description

    Teslas Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for critical component development incoming containment quality managementcontinuous improvement and qualification activities at Tesla suppliers. The job requires effective communication at all levels bothwith internal and external teams conducting failure analysis leading statistical process control activities for critical components andon-the-spot critical decision making. The goal developing suppliers by teaching best practices for manufacturing quality andengineering delivering on time quantities of high-quality component parts into Teslas production processes to enable extremelyrapid development cycles and product launches driving lean manufacturing principals to reduce waste and improve quality. Diligently drive supplier accountability for part quality issues that are impacting production by effectively managing andensuring closure for supplier corrective actions. This includes starting and maintaining sorts & reworks dispositioning MRB material and issuing chargebacks and validating supplier clean points

    Lead cross-functional between Supplier Industrial Engineering Quality Engineering Vendors and Design for drivingresolution to quality issues related to Tesla electronics commodity vendors

    Engage with suppliers on developing short term containment actions and long-term corrective actions to quality issues

    SCAR Supplier Corrective Action Request follow up and management from beginning to end

    Responsible of Supplier Quality Performance at the factory work onsite daily to support on data collectionanalysis toidentify failure trends and collaborate facilitating this data to Engineering Design Supplier Industrial Engineering and other Failure Analysis teams

    Based on performance and business needs set priorities for suppliers Develop positive relationships and work closelywith Supply Chain Team to manage implement and track supplierengineering design changes capacity studies and New Product Introductions and transfers All before leading andor supporting new part introduction trials at general assembly shop flow

    Self-starter seeking opportunities to improve processes part quality and overall efficiency Identifies trends and prioritiesby organizing and graphingcharting data Applies project management andor systems engineering tools to complete complex tasks Degree in Electrical Electronics Mechanical Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience

    5 years of component or assembly plant experience supporting Mechanical Electrical Electronics or similar in supplier quality supplier development process auality or manufacturing engineering role knowledge. Experience in a manufacturing organization is strongly preferred

    Experience in Electronic Top Level Assembly TLA or PCBA SMT manufacturing processes or Low andor High voltage powerelectronic systems andor distribution

    PPAPAPQP processes display an advanced working knowledge of Statistical Process Control SPC Geometric Dimensioningand Tolerance GD&T Lean Manufacturing and application of these skills to improve quality capacity and reduce cost

    Specific training and demonstrated success in applying analyzing and reviewing quality problem solving methods such asfishbone diagrams FMEA process capability analysis hypothesis testing DoE SPC 8D etc.

    Quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment automotive preferred

    Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities to management & executive level excellent oral written and presentationcommunication skills. Well-organized with meticulous attention to detail

    Ability to define and execute a project using project management techniques

    Ability willingness to travel domestically and internationally at times on short notice

    Ability to thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment. Excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers peers and otherfunctional areas
