The Supplier Quality Engineer will strive to meet plant metrics by driving the supplier defects back to the supplier and having them correctly root cause the issue and provide permanent corrective actions. Work alongside Resident Engineering and the rest of the plant quality and manufacturing teams to meet plant metrics of FTC, FTQ, throughput, and the other various Quality goals. Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
Verify out of spec condition reported from plant floor
Generate report of out of spec condition and contact vendor
Work with production floor and finance to gather related costs associated with supplier non-conformances (NCT or SCAP)
Lead or support containment of supplier pass-thru defects to vehicle assembly plants
Lead and manage communication with supplier for part returns, investigations and their reporting.
Write and manage potential non-conforming tickets, 3CPRs and GIMs.
Daily management of supplier table for part dispositions.
Communication with production floor for notification of material defects and clean points.
Follow up and verification of supplier counter measures in accordance with WCM
philosophy.
Develop S&P matrix (for assigned suppliers)
Prioritize proactive engagement with corporate supplier quality and suppliers for process improvements in accordance with S&P matrix.
Coach, review and approve proactive 8 Stage projects with supplier and corporate
supplier quality.
Complete QA Matrix and kaizen projects to meet plant metrics.
Pursue supplier visits to represent the plant interest, and work towards guaranteeing quality parts.
Basic Qualifications:
Education level: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university
Major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Other four year engineering or technology degrees in combination with relevant
experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Education Level: Master's Degree of higher
Major(s): Science or Business
Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM)
Experience in the design, testing, manufacture or assembly of powertrains and its
related components
Process Sign-Off
Dimensional Layout / GD&T
Greenbelt / Blackbelt certification
Language: Bilingual Verbal and written capability for English and Spanish
Experience in castings, forgings, stampings, machining, or assembly operations
Knowledge of PPAP, FMEAs, control plans, capability studies
