Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all purchased products and services consistently meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role partners closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and Quality, to resolve supplier-related issues, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with aerospace quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Review supplier quality documentation, certifications, inspection reports, and material traceability records.
Manage supplier nonconformances and initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and purchase order quality requirements.
Assist with internal, customer, and regulatory audits related to supplier quality.
Coordinate the disposition of nonconforming supplier material with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities as required.
Maintain accurate supplier quality records within the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
Travel to supplier facilities as needed to conduct audits, inspections, investigations, and improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Experience
1-3 years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing quality, or a related field; aerospace industry experience preferred.
Aerospace manufacturing or aerospace aftermarket experience strongly preferred.
Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) strongly preferred.
Experience conducting supplier audits, managing corrective actions, performing root cause analysis, and supporting First Article Inspections preferred.
ASQ certification (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)) is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of aerospace quality standards and supplier quality practices.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, and applicable FAA regulations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate quality expectations clearly, professionally, and effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience with ERP systems and electronic Quality Management Systems preferred.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-30% based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and quality inspection methodologies.
Prior experience working directly with suppliers in a regulated manufacturing environment.
