Backed by Compal's extensive experience in technology innovation and cross-industry integration, SYLUX is able to accelerate the commercialization of advanced sensing technologies and deliver practical solutions for the future of intelligent mobility and automotive safety. OUR CULTURE We believe innovation happens when people do what they love and have the opportunity to grow. SYLUX is powered by some of the brightest talent from around the world, working together to push creative and technical boundaries on behalf of our clients and their products. Every day we strive to create an environment where people can grow and learn from each other, while receiving the support to do the best while working on what they love. ABOUT THE ROLE Sylux is a leading innovator dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering advanced solutions to our clients. We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team, owning quality activities across the supplier lifecycle - from selection and qualification through to PPAP approval and series delivery. This role is the quality bridge between Sylux and its supply chain and will work hand-in-hand with the supplier management, system engineering, and purchasing teams to ensure that supplier-delivered HW components - with primary focus on optics and sensors, including infrared sensors and camera modules - meet automotive quality standards, contractual requirements, and Sylux program milestones. The primary accountability for this role is supplier quality assurance across the acquisition lifecycle, ensuring that supplier capability, processes and deliverables are evaluated, qualified, and tracked from pre-qualification through design reviews, sample submissions and qualification, while establishing an APQP framework that defines the production qualification path suppliers must satisfy at later program phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the Supplier Monitoring Plan in coordination with Quality Manager, including review frequency, work product checkpoints and quality gates
  • Support the supplier selection process by evaluating supplier quality capability, quality management systems, and process maturity
  • Conduct supplier quality assessments and audits (potential supplier audits, process audits, system audits) prior to onboarding
  • Define and communicate Sylux supplier quality requirements - including applicable standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 26262) and contractual quality obligations
  • Support the maintenance of approved supplier list in collaboration with supplier management
  • Serve as the quality technical lead for optics and sensor suppliers, including infrared sensors and camera modules, across all active supplier engagements
  • Evaluate supplier DV/PV results and qualification reports for completeness and compliance
  • Track supplier process compliance with agreed development and manufacturing standards
  • Conduct periodic supplier progress reviews and document findings, risks, and agreed actions
  • Establish the forward-looking advanced quality planning (APQP) framework, defining the production qualification path, including PPAP scope and level, that suppliers must satisfy at later program phases, aligned to the Sylux development and industrialization timeplan
  • Manage supplier nonconformances and lead structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa), including containment, corrective action verification and effectiveness checks
  • Drive supplier escalations and governance for underperforming suppliers, including improvement programs aligned with program risk
  • Define and monitor supplier quality KPIs
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier continual improvement activities
  • Track PPAP submission status across all critical suppliers and escalate delays that impact the industrialization schedule
  • Review and approve supplier PPAP packages including: PSW, Control plan, PFMEA, MSA, Process capability studies and inspection reports

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (optics / electrical / mechanical), quality assurance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality assurance within the automotive industry or sensors / optics manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with PPAP process - including PSW, Control plan, PFMEA, MSA and process capability studies
  • Experience with infrared sensors, camera modules or optical components
  • Strong knowledge of automative quality standards: IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3
  • Experience conducting supplier audits
  • Experience with quality tools: FMEA, 8D, root cause analysis, APQP, SPC and corrective action management
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 / Tier 2 suppliers
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communication skills - able to influence supplier behavior and collaborate effectively with cross-functional internal teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor
  • Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949
  • Experience managing PPAP for electronic hardware components, optical modules or embedded software suppliers
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 customer-specific requirements for major OEMs TRAVEL: Frequent BENEFITS AT SYLUX Inc.
