Black Bear Talent is recruiting for a Supply Chain and Procurement Specialist opportunity with a leading manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for coordinating purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials, supplies, and parts to support production, operations, engineering, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is a direct hire role. Hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the procurement of various supplies, materials, and parts to support production, operations, engineering, and maintenance across manufacturing facilities in the United States.
• Review and analyze procurement requirements and place orders accordingly using appropriate systems.
• Work with internal department personnel, including Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance, and other operational teams to resolve defective or
unacceptable goods, document future requirements, and address technical needs.
• Assist the Supply Planning Director with administrative support and processes related to procurement activities, including receipt and recordation of responses to procurement actions.
• Maintain positive relationships with existing suppliers and communicate with suppliers regarding material issues such as delayed receipt, poor quality, incorrect items, and other supply-related concerns while working to resolve issues.
• Assist with weekly, monthly, and annual reports requiring accurate recordkeeping and strong attention to detail.
• Assist the Supply Planning Director in ensuring delivery of supplies and equipment in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
• Review and verify invoices for accuracy, confirming correct terms, delivery dates, and other procurement-related details.
• Work with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payment of conforming materials received and coordinate return or rework of defective materials.
• Approve invoices for payment.
• Provide support to the Procurement and Inventory Management teams as needed.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
• Must have strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Requires strong follow-up and follow-through skills.
• Must have proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Working familiarity with Microsoft Access preferred, or willingness and ability to learn.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external customers while providing excellent customer service and completing tasks in a timely manner.
• Must be flexible and have the ability to pivot daily activities to support immediate requests and changing priorities.
• Must work well in a team environment while also being able to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Must have excellent attendance and flexibility in work hours, including start time, end time, and overtime as needed.
• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
