Job Title:
Supply Chain Engineer 3
Location:
Peoria, Illinois
Job Type:
Full-time, On-Going Contract, W2
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, Onsite, First Shift
Pay Range:
$48.50 - $51.96 per hour
Job Description:
Roles & Responsibility:
Own the Business Definition of the In-Transit Object
Define what “in-transit” means from a business standpoint — including minimum required fields, confidence levels, timestamps, and lifecycle states
Ensure the in-transit object reflects how the business actually plans, sequences, builds, and mitigates risk
Establish clear rules for what is trusted vs. informational, and how planners should interpret and act on the signal
Translate Operational Needs into Clear Requirements
Work directly with material planners, logistics, transportation, procurement, and supplier teams to capture real use cases and pain points
Convert those needs into clear, testable business requirements that engineering teams can build against (epics, features, acceptance criteria)
Ensure requirements explicitly support line continuity, execution decisions, and exception management, not passive visibility
Drive End-to-End Process Alignment
Map the end-to-end inbound flow (supplier ? carrier ? transit ? receiving ? production use) and identify where data breaks, degrades, or loses confidence
Align ASN, transportation, and tracking processes so that data is linked, synchronized, and explainable across systems
Define ownership and handoffs across business functions to avoid “orphaned” signals or manual workarounds
Partner Closely with Technical Teams
Act as the business counterpart to digital and data teams, ensuring solutions meet operational intent
Review designs, data models, and logic through a business execution lens
Push back on solutions that are operationally unusable or misleading
Enable Deployment and Adoption
Support rollout by defining what success looks like at site level (how planners use it, how exceptions are handled, what decisions move earlier)
Help shape training, communications, and operational guidance so teams understand how to use the signal
Identify early adoption issues and course-correct quickly based on real usage and feedback
Apply Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Rigor
Analyze inbound performance trends, data gaps, and exceptions to identify root causes
Use data to challenge assumptions, validate improvements, and refine business rules over time
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred
5–7 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, or related field
Proven experience working with inbound logistics, shipment tracking, ETAs, ASNs, or execution-level supply chain signals
Demonstrated experience translating operational needs into clear, testable business requirements
Experience working cross-functionally with business and technical teams
Advanced analytics experience using tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) or transportation management systems (TMS)
SQL querying and reporting experience
Prior experience in digital product management, business systems, or supply chain transformation initiatives
Top Skills:
Strong supply chain domain knowledge (transportation, inbound logistics, supplier collaboration)
Experience with ASNs, shipment tracking, ETAs, and execution-level supply chain signals
Ability to operate between business and technical teams, translating operational needs into buildable requirements
