Tesla is seeking a driven and strategic Capital Equipment Supply Chain Manager to lead sourcing and execution of Tooling Equipment and Automated manufacturing lines CapEx across Teslas suppliers.
The ideal candidate combines deep supply chain expertise with strong analytical and negotiation skills to deliver scalable cost-effective manufacturing solutions that support Teslas capex efficiency. Develop and execute supplier CapEx strategy, Create comprehensive plans covering tooling, automation equipment, and integrated manufacturing systems-driving cost reduction, strategic partnerships, and efficiency improvements aligned with business objectives.
Lead equipment and automation sourcing. Procure robotic systems, automated assembly cells, conveyors, vision systems, PLCs, and turnkey manufacturing lines from concept through installation. Manage supplier relationships and development. Build strong partnerships with capital equipment and automation suppliers, fostering collaboration and identifying strategic suppliers capable of meeting long-term capacity and technology needs.
Drive cost reduction and negotiations. Leverage negotiation skills to achieve optimal pricing and terms, manage RFQs, NDAs, T&Cs, and pricing agreements for all equipment and tooling purchases. Oversee cross-functional project management. Coordinate with Industrial Engineering, Automation Controls, Finance, and Direct Supply Chain teams to manage CapEx projects from specification through installation, ensuring timeline and budget adherence.
Conduct market analysis and risk management. Research equipment technologies, automation trends, and pricing benchmarks. Identify and mitigate risks, including lead time variability, supply disruptions, and cost fluctuations. Track performance through data and KPIs. Utilize analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities, measure supplier performance on quality, delivery, installation, support, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
Masters Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience. 3 years of supply chain experience focused on CapEx procurement for manufacturing equipment, tooling, or automation systems. Proven track record of achieving cost savings and improving supply chain efficiency for capital equipment. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation technologies, and assembly line equipment. Strong negotiation, contract management, and data analysis/financial modeling skills. Excellent communication skills with ability to manage multiple complex equipment projects simultaneously, high-volume manufacturing industry experience. Global mindset with experience working with international equipment and automation suppliers.
Benefits:
Expected Compensation: $84,000 - $156,000 annual salary, cash, and stock awards, benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market, location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
