Global Logistics moves billions of units per year into Amazon"s fulfillment network, managing $6B+ in annual transportation spend across truckload, less-than-truckload, intermodal, and small parcel modes. The Domestic First Mile (DFM) Cost and Network Optimization team owns the strategy and execution for reducing inbound transportation costs while maintaining speed and reliability for vendors and sellers.
We are looking for a Supply Chain Manager to own carrier supply economics and cost optimization for our 1P (Amazon-managed) and 3P (partner carrier) transportation network. You will quantify cost impacts of network changes, build analytical frameworks for carrier selection decisions, and drive cross-functional actions that reduce cost and improve performance. This role requires someone who is comfortable working with large datasets, translating analysis into business decisions, and influencing partner teams across Amazon Freight, Procurement, Finance, and Transportation Technology.
Key job responsibilities
A day in the life
You will spend your time between deep analytical work and cross-team coordination. On a given day, you might run a cost comparison of 1P vs. 3P carriers on high-rejection lanes, then join a weekly sync with Amazon Freight to review performance defects you surfaced. You will build the data that drives decisions - not just dashboards, but the "so what" and the recommended action. Your internal stakeholders include Amazon Freight operations, Carrier Procurement, Transportation Science, Finance, and the ICSO routing technology team. You report to the DFM Cost and Network Optimization lead and work closely with a Supply Chain Manager who owns the broader carrier strategy.
About the team
DFM Cost and Network Optimization is a 10-person team within Global Logistics responsible for $175MM+ in annual cost reduction initiatives across inbound transportation. We operate at the intersection of carrier economics, network design, and transportation technology. Our work directly influences how Amazon selects carriers, routes shipments, and prices transportation for vendors and sellers. We move fast, use data to win arguments, and own our outcomes end to end.
