    Job Description

    Supply Chain Manager

    Merit Manufacturing | Full-Time

Build Something That Matters at Merit

At Merit Manufacturing, we bring personal-care products to life, and our people make it happen. Across Research & Development, Quality, Production, and Operations, our teams turn ideas into products customers can trust.

We take our work seriously and make room for fresh ideas, teamwork, and a little fun along the way. We're constantly looking for better ways to solve problems, strengthen processes, and improve how we work.

As our Supply Chain Manager, you'll make a visible difference by purchasing the materials that keep production moving. From raw ingredients to packaging components, your work will help ensure every scheduled run has what it needs, when it needs it.

If you enjoy connecting the details, solving supply challenges, and turning a plan into reliable results, we'd love to meet you.

How You'll Thrive in This Role

You're curious, analytical, and comfortable digging into detailed information. You ask thoughtful questions, check the facts, and use your expertise to make sound purchasing and planning decisions.

You stay close to the work, from reviewing material requirements to following purchase orders through delivery. You bring the organization and self-discipline to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate information, and follow through to completion.

You understand that manufacturing moves quickly. You balance urgency with accuracy, consider risks before committing, and communicate early when a shortage or supplier delay could affect production.

    You'll thrive here if you:

    • Look ahead. Connect production schedules, inventory, and supplier lead times to identify material needs before they become shortages.
    • Solve problems thoughtfully. Investigate discrepancies, evaluate options, and develop solutions that prevent recurring issues.
    • Take ownership. Keep purchases organized and follow supplier commitments through without constant direction.
    • Communicate with precision. Share accurate delivery updates, explain risks clearly, and give others the information they need to act.
    • Use sound judgment. Weigh cost, timing, specifications, and quality requirements before making decisions.
    • Lead with clear expectations. Delegate thoughtfully, provide specific feedback, and verify that work meets requirements.

What You'll Do and What You'll Bring

You'll own purchasing and material planning to ensure scheduled production runs have the required raw materials and packaging components. You'll also coordinate supplier performance, inventory, and logistics to support reliable production and customer delivery.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Review production schedules, bills of materials, customer orders, and available inventory to determine purchasing needs.
    • Purchase raw materials and packaging components, verifying specifications, quantities, pricing, and required delivery dates.
    • Manage purchase orders, confirm supplier commitments, and follow up to ensure materials arrive on time.
    • Identify shortages early, expedite delayed orders, and coordinate recovery plans with Production, Warehouse, and Quality.
    • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities, and freight arrangements within approved authority.
    • Strengthen inventory accuracy and maintain appropriate stock levels while reducing excess, obsolete, and expiring materials.
    • Coordinate materials for new products and support approved quality controls and lot traceability.
    • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information in the company's ERP system.
    • Coach assigned team members and track material readiness, supplier delivery, purchasing accuracy, and verified cost savings.

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
    • At least five years of progressive manufacturing purchasing, material planning, or supply chain experience, including hands-on procurement and leadership responsibilities.
    • Experience using production schedules, bills of materials, inventory balances, and supplier lead times to plan purchases.
    • Strong negotiation, purchase-order management, supplier follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear communication across departments.

    Preferred experience:

    • Personal-care contract manufacturing.
    • CIN7 Core.
    • ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.

    Work environment:

This role works across office, warehouse, and production areas, with periodic exposure to manufacturing equipment, raw materials, and noise. Required PPE and safety procedures must be followed. Availability to address urgent material shortages and delivery needs is required based on operational demands.

Bring your analytical mindset and purchasing expertise to Team Merit. Help us keep production moving and deliver products our customers can trust.
