    Summary Statement

    As a Canteen Services Attendant at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, you will support the operation of our deliâstyle canteen, providing friendly and efficient service to residents and staff. In this role, you will handle opening and closing duties, take customer orders, operate the cash register, and maintain accurate inventory records. You will also assist with preparing a variety of hot and cold breakfast and lunch items, snacks, and beverages. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment by disinfecting food prep areas, washing dishes, and completing routine cleaning tasks.

    Essential Functions

    • Collects, receives, marks, sorts, stacks, distributes, and inventories supplies, materials, equipment, parts, or other articles.
    • Locates and selects material, supplies, tools, equipment, parts, or other articles from stockroom, warehouse, storage yard, or other related areas.
    • Adjusts, repairs, assembles, or prepares products, supplies, equipment, or other items according to specifications or customer requirements.
    • Operates a variety of equipment for the purpose of preparing, inspecting, weighing, evaluating, recording, marking, or transporting supplies, materials, equipment, or other articles.
    • Records type, quantity, value, or location of material, supplies, equipment or other articles received, shipped, used, or issued.Â
    • Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, instruments, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations; ensures security of inventory.Â

    Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

    • Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals.
    • Knowledge of record keeping.

    Additional Posting Information

    This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.

    Conditions of Hire

    Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.     All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.

    Pre-employment Drug Testing:Â Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

    Criminal background check:Â Â A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. Â The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

    Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.

    This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
