Job Summary

Renew Residential Services is seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide quality care and meaningful support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health-related challenges in their homes & communities.  Essential Responsibilities
 
  • Assist the clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
  • Support clients during meals by preparing nutritious meals, assisting with eating as needed, and maintaining a clean dining environment
  • Assist clients with mobility
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including developmental disabilities, behavior support plans, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, and memory care strategies
  • Implement behavior support strategies as trained and document accurately
  • Administer medications in accordance with company policy and training
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
  • Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and laundry
  • Document clients progress through detailed notes on patient observation, behavior changes, and care provided
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, families, and external providers
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and safety concerns
  • Uphold all company policies, ethical standards, and state regulations
 Qualifications
 
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to pass background checks and required screenings
  • Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care settings is preferred
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
  • Experience with medication administration and care plan implementation is desirable
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with people with disabilities or age-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
  • Familiarity with working within HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for community outings or transportation assistance for full time day shift positions
  • A caring attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
