Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide daily operational oversight for the Dietary and EVS Departments. To coach the EVS associates to ensure a clean, sanitary, attractive, and safe environment for hospital departments, patient, and public areas. To coach the dietary associates to assure the nutritional needs of patients, associates and guests are met. Assists leadership team with assimilating, analyzing, reviewing, and displaying imaging metrics for use in performance improvement activities.
Employment Qualifications
Knowledge generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
Previous work experience managing environmental services and/or dietary operations.
Work requires the ability to effectively assist in the organization and management of all functions of the departments and comprehensive knowledge of policies, procedures and practices, Human Resources Management, and regulatory requirements. Green Belt training preferred
Experience in planning, preparing reports and schedules and documenting departmental records.
The ability to use good interpersonal skills to deal with people effectively from various cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Essential Job Functions Plans, manages, disciplines, and evaluates work performance of the environmental services and dietary staff in conjunction with the Supervisors and team leads. Supervises the off-shift team leaders. Develops and implements training and retention programs for staff in conjunction with the VP, Administrator. Conducts performance evaluations of associates and coaches, counsels, and mentors them in areas of necessary improvement. Fully responsible for all aspects of the departments. Supervises payroll edits and payroll issues. Provides monthly reports and results to Team Leaders, which highlight associate's performance and provides documentation for compliance. Leads special projects as determined by the VP, Administrator. Leads teams to assure compliance with all stewardship initiatives, Principal liaison in matters relating to other departments (i.e., Employee Wellness, Human Resources, Information's Systems, Communications) Approves work schedules and daily staffing assignments for the Supervisors, Team Leaders, and associates. Seeks continuous education on budgeting issues and expense reduction. Assures proper documentation of all educational training and procedural records in accordance with Joint Commission Standards. Works closely with the Safety Officer and Infection Control personnel to ensure safety and sanitation policies are current and enforced in conjunction with Joint Commission environment of care standards. Makes rounds to assess effectiveness of the Environmental Services and Dietary program and to ensure instructions are followed and safety rules are observed. Participates in continuing education through seminars, participation in national associations and reading publications to stay abreast of cutting-edge issues. Responsible for conducting regular staff meetings and providing clear and accurate Instructions to team leaders and associates.
Other Job Functions Maintains confidentiality of the patient's protected health information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Participates in hospital emergency preparedness.
Working Conditions
Works in all areas of the hospital and may travels to off-site buildings.
The individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate meeting human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
Works in a hospital environment where there is minimal physical discomfort due to dust, dirt, noise, etc.
