PURPOSE
The purpose of the Support Services Supervisor position is to create and promote meaningful volunteer opportunities to further the mission of the organization, as well as manage the daily operation of support staff.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
PROGRAM COORDINATION: Coordinates, refines and evaluates the support services programming which includes volunteers and administrative support staff
ADVOCACY: Ensures and provides direct crisis intervention for victims of sexual and domestic violence
COMMUNITY RELATIONS: Fosters community relationships that strengthen the organization's ability to serve victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse
LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION: Ensures effective leadership of the organization through the hiring and retention of qualified staff
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in social work or other human service-related field
- Experience working with individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, childhood sexual abuse, human trafficking or sexual exploitation
- Minimum of three years experience with a volunteer services program
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate
- Self-motivated and organized, able to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Working understanding of volunteer services in a nonprofit organization
- Program, with some work experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to successfully recruit and engage volunteers
- Understanding of administrative responsibilities and duties
DIRECT REPORTS
Reporting to the Support Services Supervisor are the organization's volunteers and the administrative support staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PROGRAM COORDINATION: Coordinates, refines and evaluates the support services programming which includes volunteers and administrative support staff
- Develops and maintains an ongoing volunteer recruitment effort to meet the changing needs of clients and the organization
- Develops and implements interview protocols for potential volunteers to ensure the best match between skills, qualifications and interests of the volunteers and the needs of the agency
- Collaborate with On Call and NoViolence Supervisor to ensure interdependence of volunteers and on call staff to serve clients during non-standard work hours
- Collaborates with organizational leadership to continually evaluate the potential opportunities for volunteer services
- Track and report upon volunteer engagement to demonstrate volunteer contributions to the agency's mission and strategic direction
- Manages all functions of the reception area and children's waiting area, ensuring a sense of welcome and safety
- Develops and maintains current job descriptions for various volunteer opportunities and administrative staff
ADVOCACY: Ensures and provides direct crisis intervention for victims of sexual and domestic violence
- Ensures administrative staff and volunteers provide client-centered approach with individuals seeking services
- Provides emotional support, referral and information to clients seeking assistance at the organization
- Maintains client confidentiality according to policy
COMMUNITY RELATIONS: Fosters community relationships that strengthen the organization's ability to serve victims of sexual assault and domestic violence
- Represents RACC at appropriate events, and on committees, boards and task forces
- Builds and maintains working relationships with collaborating partners
- Engages community members about the volunteer needs of the organization
LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION: Ensures effective leadership of the organization through the hiring and retention of qualified staff
- Hires qualified staff to meet department needs and standards
- Orients and trains volunteers and staff according to organizational/department processes, ensuring that all team members understand their relationship to the whole
- Provides supportive coaching on a regular basis to promote the individual and team success
- Identifies opportunities for skill development and job enhancement
- Seeks opportunities to build employee morale and individual motivation
- Researches and implements best practices in volunteer management
- Supervises administrative support staff
- Provides after-hours support to volunteers
