LSF is seeking a talented Support Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose and Impact:

The Support Specialist is responsible for coordination and assistance with relevant duties as needed. The position will coordinate and assist contracted service partners or organizations using the facility who serve Center members. The position will be knowledgeable in community resources to provide referrals or guidance to families with school age children and provide follow up as necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and assist service partners or organizations using the facility who serve Center members
  • Assist in development and implementation of family support programming
  • Refer and link families to appropriate programs and community resources as needed
  • Perform daily operating procedures
  • Work to support Center and collaborative outcomes
  • Orient new families to the Center services and environment
  • Assist families with completion of applications to community services and/or programs
  • Coordinate and facilitate Center-driven programming and events
  • Document services, maintain records, complete reports, purchase supplies, input data into a data base system
  • Provide families with referrals and follow-up 
  • Support partner agencies with program registration and follow-up
  • Support the efforts of all CBFRC staff
  • Ensure Center is a safe warm welcoming environment for all
  • Follow all CBFRC Policies and Procedures
  • Perform targeted outreach as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Understand the value and foundation of the Protective Factors framework
  • Maintain cooperative working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, families, partners and the community
  • Practice Family Support Principles
  • Cross trained to perform daily operating procedures
  • Participate in Center events and work to support contractual outcomes
  • Obtain training in the Center data system: Attendance and Needs Tracking System and maintain member confidentiality
  • Bilingual employees may be needed to review and/or translate (verbal or written communications)
  • Attend mandatory trainings and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have a high level of energy, positive attitude, adaptability to irregular hours. 
  • Work flexible hours to include some evenings and Saturdays

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Social Work or related field preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of two years’ experience in serving families.

Skills:

The Specialist will be knowledgeable in community resources to provide referrals or guidance to families with school age children, providing follow up as necessary. A proven ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people.  Knowledge of office equipment.  Must have telephone skills and excellent communication skills.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Reports to Center Manager
  • Team player with co-workers and administrators
  • Accurate complete and timely submission of required documents and reports
  • Liaison to community providers.
  • Adherence to agency policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all client information
