Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.\n \nSummary:\n \nSupervises the technical operations of the laboratory, including resource and personnel management. Performs complex laboratory testing and serves as technical specialist. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.\n \nOther information:\n \nRequired Job Qualifications:\n\n Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Sciences\n 5 years relevant experience in a Hospital Laboratory\n \nPreferred Job Qualifications:\n\n MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) certificate\n \nPhysical Demands:\n\n Able to work in past pace, often stressful, computerized environment. \n Able tolift 15 lbs. and perform repetitive motions. \n Works in laboratory with exposure to potentially infectious materials.\n Competencies: \n Knowledge of Medical Laboratory Sciences in order to supervise testing in a Laboratory area competently \n \nResponsibilities:\n\n Supervises high complexity testing, QC procedures, proficiency surveys, and instrument checks.\n Performs complex laboratory testing with no assistance.\n Ensures that equipment is maintained and operated safely and accurately.\n Demonstrates ability to manage workflow, recognize quality control values and respond appropriately to outliers, be a technical resource person, recognize instrument/assay problems, and maintain technical proficiency.\n Maintains Policy and Procedure Manuals. Updates as needed.\n Directs or performs inventory of necessary supplies and ensures timely preparation of purchase requisitions.\n Enforces compliance with all policies, standard operating procedures, and regulations related to routine operations.\n Directs training of new employees such that performance levels meet expectations. \n Appraises employee competency and performance and conducts performance reviews.\n Reviews computer generated reports at the appropriate times.\n* Accepts special projects and completes them as assigned.\n \nRush is an equal opportunity employer.
