General Summary of Position
MedStar Ambulatory Services is committed to providing world-class compassionate care to every patient every time at every touch point. All associates are accountable for their role in meeting the patient experience standards.Responsible for the supply chain process which includes managing inventory control ordering all medical supplies maintaining an appropriate inventory of medical supplies and receiving and stocking all medical supplies to assigned area. Provides support to the surgical team as needed. Communicates appropriate information to other team members. Oversees and supervises at least one or more support staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develops department goals objectives policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with business unit policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.Develops and recommends department operating budget and manages resources according to approved budget.Selects trains orients and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance evaluates performance and conducts performance management planning. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs provide feedback discuss new developments and exchange information.Coordinates with staff to perform quarterly inventory accounting.Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens and body fluids. Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.Informs management of applicable day-to-day situations.Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.Orders medical supplies implants and minor equipment per policy and procedure.Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.Uses facility software to create purchase orders receive inventory deplete inventory enter implant information and perform case costing.Uses good body mechanics.When supplies arrive at the facility checks in all supplies per invoice and purchase order delivers all supplies to appropriate locations accounts for all back orders and prepares required paperwork for the Administrator.Works with Administrator on price negotiations with vendors.Works with Administrator to enter Accounts Payable into the system for payment approval following established policies and procedures.Works with Materials Management Specialist to identify shortages and alternatives.Active member of the Implant Committee.Works with ASC network peer Materials Managers in the MAS Ambulatory Surgery Center Network.Interacts with Surgeons and reviews alternative supplies.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Minimal Qualifications
