The Surface Equipment Operator plays a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of surface machinery and equipment used in various industrial and construction settings. This position is responsible for managing the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, and conveyors to support daily project activities. The operator ensures that all equipment is used in compliance with safety regulations and company policies, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. Collaboration with site supervisors and maintenance teams is essential to coordinate equipment availability and address any operational challenges promptly. Ultimately, the Surface Equipment Operator contributes to the successful completion of projects by maintaining high standards of equipment performance and workplace safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid operator certification or license for relevant surface equipment (e.g., crane operator certification).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience operating heavy surface equipment in an industrial, construction, or mining environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and operational procedures related to heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, safety guidelines, and operational instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications such as OSHA safety training or first aid/CPR.
  • Experience with computerized equipment monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices in equipment operation.
  • Previous experience working in a team-oriented, fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Basic mechanical skills to perform minor repairs and adjustments on equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and control surface equipment including cranes, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy machinery according to operational guidelines.

  • Identify and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards to the maintenance team and supervisors promptly.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents or irregularities.
