Position Summary:

The Surface Grinder Operator is responsible for the precision grinding, finishing, and inspection of machined components used in the manufacture of induction heating equipment. This position operates manual and CNC surface grinding machines to achieve required dimensions, flatness, parallelism, surface finish, and quality standards. The Surface Grinder Operator works closely with Machining, Fabrication, Quality, and Assembly departments to ensure components meet engineering specifications and production schedules.

Job Duties:

- Set up and operate surface grinding machines to machine parts to specified tolerances and surface finish requirements.

- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

- Determine proper grinding wheels, speeds, feeds, and setups based on material type and part requirements.

- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and surface plates.

- Verify dimensional accuracy, flatness, parallelism, and surface finish requirements.

- Perform machine setup changes, adjustments, and routine preventative maintenance.

- Maintain proper job documentation and labor reporting. Follow production schedules and prioritize work to support on-time delivery.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.

- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

What you need to be successful:

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Able to hold tolerances as close as .0005”

- Must read and interpret schematics and blueprints

- Experience using a CNC Machine or Manual Machining
