Summary
Reports to the Director, Patient Care Services. Monitors, evaluates and improves the quality of practice and standards in a designated surgical specialty area. Serves as a practitioner, educator and resource person for a specific patient population and nursing staff. Assesses the educational needs of staff and acts to meet these needs. Enhances clinical practice through quality improvement projects and cost efficiency programs. Works collaboratively with others to support the goals of the department. Assumes circulating and/or scrubbing duties in designated surgical specialty area.

Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana. BSN and perioperative certification preferred. Three years nursing experience in acute-care perioperative nursing and preceptor experience required. After January 1, 2014, candidates are required to have or obtain a BSN within three years of employment in this position.
