Surgery Physician Assistant

Overview:

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgery Physician Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional surgical care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, utilizing your surgical expertise to improve patient outcomes. Whether assisting in high-acuity operating rooms or managing postoperative care, you will be instrumental in ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical services.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years recent clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in surgical settings
  • Valid NY State Physician Assistant license and board certification
  • Proven proficiency in surgical procedures including wound cauterization, vessel management, suturing, and tissue handling
  • Strong knowledge of hemostasis, patient positioning, and operative techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Competency with EPIC charting and automated medication systems

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Robotics surgical experience highly preferred
  • Prior experience working in general surgery, OB/GYN, or orthopedic units
  • Additional certifications in advanced surgical techniques or specialties
  • Bilingual abilities to enhance patient communication

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of recent surgical assistance experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records

Other Requirements:
  • Flexibility to work 8/6-8/8 and 8/21-28 in various shift types including 3x12s, 5x8s, or 4x10s, with potential weekend call duties
  • Ability to support coverage through weeknights, weekends, and extended shifts as necessary
  • Willingness to assist with both operating room procedures and medical surgical floor duties
  • Must adhere to hospital dress code, safety policies, and professional conduct standards
  • Willingness to travel and participate in ongoing training or certification updates as needed

Compensation:

Hourly Pay Rate: $152.88
