Summary of Position
The Surgery Scheduler will act as the liaison between the patient, physician/s, and surgical facility, and will be responsible for all functions related to the coordination of scheduling surgeries. They will perform an extensive number of data collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to allow for a seamless surgical experience for each patient.
Nature and Scope
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for assisting the patient with all aspects of pre-operative preparations, in a manner that promotes patient confidence and comfort in their medical care.
The Surgery Scheduler will demonstrate excellent customer service, and demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the office and their patients.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent certificate required. College degree preferred.
Current Medical Assistant Certification is strongly preferred.
Two years of scheduling and/or medical office experience preferred.
Sound understanding of medical terminology required.
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes required.
Ability to learn related center tasks and be of assistance to management and physicians.
Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and patient experience standards.
BLS certified at the time of employment, or within the first 3 months, preferred.
If the Surgery Scheduler is a Medical Assistant, BLS is required.
Demonstrated computer literacy required.
