We are a modern, state of the art outpatient surgery center located in the heart of San Francisco. We are in search of a Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verification Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Opens the Front Office of the Center before first patient check-ins
- Welcomes patients, families, physicians, and visitors to the surgery center either in person or over the phone
- General duties include: pre-registration and registration of patients (i.e. entering insurance and demographic information, consent forms, etc into EMR system)
- Completing insurance verifications
- Notifying patients of insurance coverage and copay/coinsurance responsibilities
- Receiving and directing phone calls, distribution of mail and messages, assisting the business office as necessary
- Prepare patient documents
- Accepting and posting payments
- Work directly with clinical staff members to understand the lengths of procedures, room availability, and needs of special supplies
- Coordinate schedule with anesthesia group
- Maintain Front Desk area
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organizations
- Additional languages preferred
- Knowledge of EMR systems
- Knowledge of commercial and private insurance plans
- Knowledge of Google Suite
Education and Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- 1 year or more experience with insurance verification, preferred
- 1 year or more experience in a medical office setting, preferred
Required Licensure and Certification:
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification or willing to complete by start date
Compensation:
- Salary commensurate with experience
