**Schedule: Varies M-F (no weekends), 8AM-5PM**

Surgery Scheduler at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas:

·The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling procedures for the Operating Room (OR) in a manner that ensures efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with hospital policies.

·This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with medical practitioners, OR staff, and administration to optimize the use of operating room suites and resources.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent

Required Experience:

·1-year previous scheduling experience

·Medical terminology experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:

·Surgical Procedure Scheduling

§Obtain all required information for scheduling procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

§Coordinate with practitioners to confirm the availability of OR suites and resources.

§Ensure the scheduling form, patient identification, and proof of insurance are clear, legible, and accurate. Verify authorization codes thoroughly to confirm their validity and correctness.

·Privileges Validation

§Verify that all practitioners scheduling procedures have approved privileges for the requested procedures.

§Consult the clinical privilege delineation lists and escalate any privilege-related inquiries to the Director of Surgical Services.

·Record Maintenance

§Accurately post scheduled surgical cases on the Operating Room Log and scheduling board.

§Ensure all entries are complete and up-to-date for effective communication with OR staff.

·Resource Optimization

§Ensure maximum utilization of operating room suites and staff by managing schedules efficiently.

§Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate emergencies or changes in surgical case requirements.
