Role Description This part-timePRN (Monday, Wednesdays and possibly one other day), on-site Surgical Assistant role is based in Germantown, TN and supports the surgical team in providing safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing the operating room, setting up necessary equipment and instruments, assisting surgeons during cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures, and supporting pre- and post-operative patient care workflows. The Surgical Assistant helps ensure proper sterile technique, maintains accurate documentation related to procedures, and collaborates with nursing and clinical staff to promote smooth patient flow. The role also involves assisting with patient positioning, handling specimens, and performing delegated clinical tasks under the supervision of licensed medical professionals. Consistent adherence to safety protocols, privacy standards, and clinic policies is essential. This role is also responsible for instrument sterilization, packaging and maintaining OR supplies.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively in the operating room, including familiarity with surgical environment, safety protocols, and team-based workflows.

• Proficiency in surgical assisting and surgical technology, supporting surgeons with instruments, positioning, and intraoperative tasks.

• Foundational knowledge of medicine and cosmetic/plastic surgery procedures, with strong attention to patient safety and comfort.

• Skills in sterilization practices, including preparing and maintaining sterile fields, handling instruments, and following infection control standards.

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, First Assist or related clinical program; relevant certification required.
• \n
• Previous experience in cosmetic, plastic, or outpatient surgery settings is beneficial.

• Strong communication skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and a collaborative approach to working with surgeons and clinical staff.

• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and position patients or equipment as needed, and maintain focus in a fast-paced clinical environment.
