UBMD Ophthalmology / Ross Eye Institute is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Ophthalmic Surgical Scheduler to join our team. This role plays a critical part in coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, ensuring patients have a smooth and efficient experience from consultation through post-operative care.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a strong understanding of ophthalmology or surgical scheduling.
Coordinate and schedule all ophthalmic surgeries for your designated provider
Communicate with patients regarding surgical dates, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and insurance authorization requirements
Provide exceptional customer service and address patient questions and concerns regarding procedures
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations prior to surgery
Submit necessary paperwork and ensure all surgical documentation is completed accurately and efficiently
Maintain up-to-date records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Collaborate with surgeons, technicians, and clinic staff to ensure accurate and timely scheduling
Work closely with surgical facilities and vendors to coordinate necessary equipment or materials
Follow HIPAA guidelines and clinic protocols at all times
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 1 year of experience in medical scheduling, ophthalmology, or surgical coordination
Strong knowledge of clinical/medical practice operations, terminology, and administrative procedures
Ability to multitask and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with computers, software applications, and practice management technology
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
