About the Role:
Vital Orthopedic & Spine Institute in Fort Lauderdale, FL is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Surgical Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you'll be the backbone of our surgical operations — ensuring patients receive seamless, compassionate care from consultation to the operating room. Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, and surgical teams
  • Obtain prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical cases
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the surgical scheduling process
  • Communicate with surgeons, OR staff, and facility personnel to confirm case details and logistics
  • Prepare and distribute surgical preference cards, operative reports, and pre-op instructions
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and coordinate financial clearance prior to procedures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR system
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and orthopedic/spine surgical protocols
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator, preferably in orthopedics or spine
  • Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, and insurance verification
  • Familiarity with orthopedic and spine surgical terminology and procedures
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and patient-facing interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or healthcare certification a plus
