Job Title: Surgical / Operating Room Technician – Evening Shift
Location: Syracuse, NY (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 16 Weeks
Schedule:
- Shift: Evening / Rotating
- Hours: 40 hours/week
- Shift Timings:
- 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
- Weekend Requirement: As per rotation
- On-Call Requirement: As needed
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical / Operating Room Technician to support surgical procedures in a high-acuity operating room environment. This role requires strong scrub experience and the ability to work independently while maintaining sterile technique and ensuring patient safety across a variety of surgical specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms to ensure sterility and readiness for procedures
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff as a scrub technician during surgeries
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control standards
- Manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Support procedures across specialties including:
- Trauma
- Orthopedic
- General Surgery
- ENT
- Vascular
- Gynecology
- Anticipate surgeon needs to ensure efficient workflow
- Perform instrument counts and documentation per protocol
- Assist with patient positioning and intra-facility transport
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams
- Follow all safety policies and clinical protocols
Required Qualifications:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
- Minimum 3 years of recent OR experience (within the last 4 years)
- Strong scrub experience required
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties (trauma, ortho, general, ENT, vascular, GYN)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Level I or Level II trauma center settings
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work variable evening and rotating shifts
- First Assist responsibilities are not applicable
- First-time travelers may be considered with relevant comparable experience
Work Environment:
- Fully onsite operating room setting
- High-pressure, team-driven surgical environment
- Exposure to diverse and complex surgical cases
