Job Title: Surgical / Operating Room Technician – Evening Shift

Location: Syracuse, NY (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 16 Weeks


Schedule:

  • Shift: Evening / Rotating
  • Hours: 40 hours/week
  • Shift Timings:
    • 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
    • 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
    • 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: As per rotation
  • On-Call Requirement: As needed

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Surgical / Operating Room Technician to support surgical procedures in a high-acuity operating room environment. This role requires strong scrub experience and the ability to work independently while maintaining sterile technique and ensuring patient safety across a variety of surgical specialties.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms to ensure sterility and readiness for procedures
  • Assist surgeons and nursing staff as a scrub technician during surgeries
  • Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control standards
  • Manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Support procedures across specialties including:
    • Trauma
    • Orthopedic
    • General Surgery
    • ENT
    • Vascular
    • Gynecology
  • Anticipate surgeon needs to ensure efficient workflow
  • Perform instrument counts and documentation per protocol
  • Assist with patient positioning and intra-facility transport
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams
  • Follow all safety policies and clinical protocols

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of recent OR experience (within the last 4 years)
  • Strong scrub experience required
  • Experience across multiple surgical specialties (trauma, ortho, general, ENT, vascular, GYN)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Level I or Level II trauma center settings

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work variable evening and rotating shifts
  • First Assist responsibilities are not applicable
  • First-time travelers may be considered with relevant comparable experience

Work Environment:

  • Fully onsite operating room setting
  • High-pressure, team-driven surgical environment
  • Exposure to diverse and complex surgical cases
