Surgical Recovery Coordinator (Days or Nights)

A healthcare organization in New York City is seeking a Surgical Recovery Coordinator (SRC) for a temp-to-perm opportunity.

About the Opportunity:

• Shift: Day or Nights

• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend and holidays

• Hours: 5am to 5pm or 5pm to 5am

• Setting: In-person

Responsibilities:

• Deploy to donor operating rooms and support organ recovery procedures.

• Prepare sterile supplies, equipment, back tables, and preservation materials.

• Scrub into procedures, assist the surgeon, and maintain sterile technique throughout the case.

• Perform organ preservation tasks, including flush processes, kidney pump support, and preparation of preservation solutions.

• Package, label, verify, document, and transport recovered organs and tissue according to established protocols.

• Restock, clean, and sterilize equipment and supplies after cases, and support on-call deployment as needed.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of hospital-based main operating room experience

• Experience functioning as a scrub tech, circulator, or OR nurse in a main OR environment

• Strong sterile technique and the ability to scrub independently

• Ability to work independently, communicate professionally, and speak up appropriately in high-pressure OR settings

• Availability to work three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend and holidays

• Willingness to participate in a temp-to-perm role and convert to a permanent position

• Ability to remain in the designated service area and report when deployed during scheduled on-call windows

Desired Skills:

• Certified Surgical Technologist certification

• Certified Transplant Preservationist certification

• Previous organ procurement organization experience

• Experience with organ recovery, preservation, packaging, labeling, and transportation protocols

• Background across multiple surgical specialties, such as general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, or OB/GYN
