Nestled adjacent to the scenic Indiana University campus, the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) in Bloomington stands as a beacon of cutting-edge medical care. Boasting 13 state-of-the-art operating rooms spanning various specialties, our facility hosts a dynamic range of services. From our thriving Robotic Program to General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Podiatry, Ear, Nose, and Throat, Neurosurgery, and Cardiovascular Surgery, we cater to diverse medical needs.

Functioning as a Level III trauma center, the RAHC plays a pivotal role in supporting South Central Indiana, emphasizing top-tier patient care and favorable outcomes. This is a full time day shift role. On-call coverage required, including two weekend shifts every six weeks spanning Friday end of shift through Monday at 7:00 AM, as well as two weekday overnight call shifts per week from end of shift through 7:00 AM.

Surgical Resource Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

  • Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA.
  • Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Requires 17 continuing education units annually.
  • Requires successful completion of Perioperative Services Preceptor class and/or completion of 4 precepting eLMS modules and/or facility based preceptor training.
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year experience in the Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.
  • Must be able to resource to other staff who are utilizing advanced technology in cases, including knowledge of the types of instruments utilized, what cases utilize different technologies, etc.
  • Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
  • Requires completion of application and recommendations as prescribed in Advancement Process.
