Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technologist Position

Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Guaranteed Hours per Week

Join a nationally recognized Magnet-designated, teaching hospital in Minneapolis, MN. We are seeking a dedicated surgical professional with experience in complex cardiac and vascular procedures to support a highly specialized cardiovascular surgery team. Position Summary

The CVOR Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile surgical environment, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and assisting during a wide range of complex cardiovascular and vascular procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-acuity surgical setting.

Schedule

  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Primary Shifts:
    • 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
    • 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (worked approximately 90% of the time)
  • Additional Shift: 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM as department needs require
  • Weekend Requirements: Up to two weekends per month
  • On-Call: Up to two weekdays per week, up to two weekends per month, and holiday call as needed
  • Block Scheduling: Not available

The successful candidate will support a comprehensive range of cardiac and vascular surgical procedures, including but not limited to:

Cardiac Surgery

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) – On and Off Pump
  • Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
  • Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement (MVRR)
  • Tricuspid Valve Repair and Replacement (TVRR)
  • Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection Repair
  • Total Artificial Heart Implantation
  • Heart Transplant
  • Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Implantation
  • Minimally Invasive Valve Procedures
  • Transcatheter Aortic, Mitral, and Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TAVR/TMVR/TTVR)

Vascular Surgery

  • Endovascular and Open Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Repair
  • Thoracic and Thoracoabdominal Aneurysm Repair
  • Fenestrated Graft Procedures
  • Carotid Endarterectomy
  • Peripheral Arterial Bypass Procedures
  • Femoral-Popliteal Bypass
  • Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR)
  • Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
  • ECMO Cannulation, Decannulation, and Repositioning
  • Amputations

Required CVOR Experience

Candidates must have experience assisting with several of the following procedures:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
  • Atrial Septal Defect Repair
  • Mitral Valve Replacement
  • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
  • Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
  • Carotid Endarterectomy
  • Femoral-Popliteal Bypass Graft
  • Pericardial Window
  • ECMO Procedures

Experience in General Surgery, Endoscopic/Laparoscopic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Bariatrics, Vascular Surgery, and Transplant procedures is preferred.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 1 year of CVOR Surgical Technologist experience
  • Current NBSTSA or NCCT Surgical Technologist Certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Requirements

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work without a pending state license.
  • Local candidates residing within a 100-mile radius are not eligible.
  • Requested time off should ideally not exceed 5 days.

  • Staffed Beds: 672
  • Operating Rooms: 6 dedicated CVOR suites (4 traditional ORs, 1 Hybrid OR, and 1 Peripheral Vascular OR)
  • Electronic Medical Record: Excellian/Epic
  • Scrubs: Provided by the facility
  • Parking: Available at a flat hourly rate for all shifts
