At Cataract & Laser Institute, our patients are at the center of everything we do. We're looking for a caring, organized, and service-oriented Patient Support Specialist to help deliver an outstanding experience throughout every stage of the patient journey.

In this role, you'll provide administrative and patient support by assisting with scheduling, communications, insurance coordination, and other essential services that help our clinics operate efficiently while ensuring patients feel informed and supported.

What You'll Do

  • Assist patients with scheduling appointments and coordinating follow-up care.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and required documentation.
  • Provide education regarding appointments, procedures, and next steps.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and clinic teams.
  • Support prescription refill requests, referrals, and medical record requests as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Resolve patient concerns or escalate issues to the appropriate team when needed.
  • Protect patient privacy by maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service during every patient interaction.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, medical office, call center, patient services, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and service.
     
     
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines):
     
    • Physical Activity:  Standing, Walking, Stooping, Grasping, Typing, and Manual dexterity. The worker is required to have visual and verbal acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

    • Physical Requirements:  Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 pounds from waist to shoulder, and 5 pounds from shoulder to overhead.

    • Work Environment: Professional medical office environment.
