Surgical Sterilization Systems Field Service Engineer

You start your day from home, review your schedule on a company laptop, load parts into your assigned service vehicle, and head to a hospital’s Sterile Processing Department. A cart washer alarms mid-cycle; you diagnose, repair, and document the fix on your mobile app. After lunch, you consult with a Biomed team about a competitor’s sterilizer, then partner with STERIS Tech Support to escalate a complex fault. Before the day ends, you brief the Customer on options, pricing, and next steps—and line up a field upgrade installation for tomorrow.

That’s a typical day for a STERIS Equipment Service professional—remote-based, largely inside hospitals, and pivotal to safe surgical care. In this role, you will service STERIS’s flagship OEM portfolio—washers, sterilizers, ultrasonics, steam generators, and cart washers—spanning 160 pieces of equipment, along with select competitor systems.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain STERIS and competitor devices used in surgical and sterile processing environments.
• Independently prioritize PMs, service and warranty calls, installations, and field upgrades across your territory to meet Customer and business commitments.
• Collaborate with Technical Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to escalate issues and complete required compliance documentation using advanced technology platforms.
• Present findings, repair options, and pricing to Customers; cultivate relationships with Sales to enhance Customer experience and uncover revenue opportunities.
• Support multiple sites within your assigned region based on service agreements and demand.

What you bring

• High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of work experience, including 2+ years in a mechanical/technical capacity. An Associate’s degree, relevant certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may count toward the technical requirement.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all required background and physical assessment elements for vendor credentialing; must also remain compliant with hospital/customer credentialing requirements.
• Experience engaging with Customers and working within a team environment; strong verbal and written communication.
• Basic proficiency with computers and mobile tools (Windows, email, navigation, apps, and data entry across multiple systems).
• Schedule flexibility, including potential overnights and early/late hours as required by Customer and business needs.

Candidates with backgrounds in HVAC, industrial maintenance, refrigeration, boilers/chillers, equipment repair, diesel/automotive, aviation, plumbing, or electrical frequently excel here.

Pay range for this opportunity is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00. This position is eligible for bonus.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on factors including, but not limited to, local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and foreign language fluency.
