POSITION SUMMARY

The Surgical Technologist (Certified or Non-Certified) is an allied health professional and an integral member of the surgical team. Working under the supervision of the surgeon and Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist facilitates the safe and effective conduct of surgical and invasive procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, managing surgical instrumentation and supplies, anticipating procedural needs, and promoting patient safety throughout the perioperative process.

The Surgical Technologist demonstrates Delaware Surgery Center's core values of Service, Compassion, and Accountability (SCA) while supporting excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and surgical outcomes. The Surgical Technologist practices in accordance with Delaware Surgery Center policies, regulatory requirements, Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) Standards of Practice, and National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Successful completion of orientation and competency validation requirements.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.

Preferred

  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program.
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA, preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a hospital operating room and/or ambulatory surgery center.
  • Experience in multiple surgical specialties.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

We are actively hiring for a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). 

 

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Responsibilities: 

  • Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures.
  • Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas.  
  • Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.  
Qualifications:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent. 
  • Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.   
  • Prior Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.   
  • Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred.   
  • Successful completion of BLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification. 
Min: USD $26.00/Hr. Max: USD $30.00/Hr.
