    Description:

    What You Will Do:

    • Assist the surgical team in Endoscopy by preparing operating rooms and supporting procedures under the supervision of the circulating nurse

    • Verify correct surgical site, assist with patient transport as needed, and prepare the pre‑operative site

    • Review OR schedules, note changes to procedures, and gather required equipment, instruments, and supplies based on surgeon preference cards

    • Perform surgical scrub, don sterile gown and gloves, and participate in opening and maintaining the sterile field

    • Instrument surgical cases, pass instruments to surgeons, and anticipate needs to support uninterrupted procedures

    • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts in accordance with policy

    • Assist with prepping and draping patients and gowning and gloving surgical team members

    • Prepare sterile dressings and ensure all equipment is functioning properly, reporting any malfunctions, and more.

    Schedule:

    • Monday - Friday

    • 8 hour shifts

    • Start and end times depend on department's scheduled procedures

    • Start times between 6 am and 8 am

    • End times between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm

    • Later starts on Thursdays

    • Minimal on "call" rotation dependent on department need, 30-minute response time.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program; graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
    • CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa.
    • LPN license required if graduate of LPN program.
    • No prior experience required.
    • Previous endo/GI experience preferred.
