Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Tech First Assist for a 13-week contract in Clackamas, OR. The Surgical First Assistant will work closely with surgeons during surgical procedures by providing advanced intraoperative assistance, maintaining a sterile field, handling instruments, assisting with exposure, hemostasis, wound closure, and ensuring optimal patient care throughout the procedure.
Job Duties:- Assist the surgeon during operative procedures by providing direct first-assistant support.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field throughout the procedure.
- Position, prep, and drape patients according to surgical protocol.
- Assist with tissue handling, exposure, hemostasis, and wound closure under the surgeon's direction.
- Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs to ensure efficient workflow in the operating room.
- Handle and care for surgical specimens according to facility policy.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
Requirements- NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)OR
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) – Required
- Minimum 1-2 years of recent Surgical First Assist experience
