Position Summary:

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is looking for a Surgical Tech position working full-time during the Day, in our Main OR. This position will work Monday - Friday, eight (8) hours each day from 6am - 2:30pm. The Surgical Tech demonstrates a clear understanding of sterile techniques and maintains a working knowledge of the specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of special procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
- Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
- Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
- Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
- Maintains surgical specimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
- Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
- May have limited access to areas where medications are stored.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Training
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of:
- Surgical Technology training program; or
- Baptist Health Training Program; or
- An accredited physician assistant program
Licensure/Certification
- Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
