Overview:

Schedule: 3 days/12hr shifts, 7am-7:30pm with variable days including weekends and holidays 

 

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Surgical Tech II assists with the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assists surgeons in the operating Room by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. Performs job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs. Works under the supervision of the circulating RN in the operating room suite. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

 

The Operating Room (OR) is a 15 surgical operating room unit that provides 24/7 surgical care to children of all ages (neonate to adult) who are to undergo general anesthesia for operative or other invasive procedures, with an estimated surgical case volume of 17,000 surgical cases a year. We work with the following specialty groups to provide care: Anesthesiology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Cardiothoracic surgery, Dentistry, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, General pediatric surgery/Abdominal Transplant, Hematology/Oncology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Maxillofacial surgery, Pulmonology, and Urology.

 

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2+ years’ Operating Room experience in a variety of surgical specialties. Communicate effectively and tactfully with patients.

 

Education/Licensure/Certification: Completion of Operating room Technician Training Course or equivalent. Current BLS from American Heart Association.
