Required Skills:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification; associate's degree from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in preparing and managing operative suites, including setup, instrument handling, and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of moderate to high acuity cardiovascular surgical procedures
  • Strong understanding of sterile techniques, asepsis, and infection control practices
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to emergent situations and prioritize effectively

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Previous experience in CVOR or cardiovascular surgeries
  • Advanced knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation specific to cardiac procedures
  • Skills in mentoring, training, or precepting new staff or students
  • Familiarity with inventory management and OR supply procurement
  • Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical records

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework or certification in surgical technology
  • Prior experience in high-acuity surgical environments, particularly cardiovascular or thoracic surgeries

Other Requirements:
  • Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); instructor certification preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including call or late shifts as needed
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards and organizational policies
