The Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) is a vital member of the surgical team, playing a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in the operating room. This position is responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, anticipating surgical needs, and supporting procedures with precision and focus.
Working alongside surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, you will contribute directly to successful surgical outcomes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is passionate about patient safety, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
Function as the scrub technologist during operative and invasive procedures
Prepare and organize sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
Maintain a sterile field at all times and take corrective action when needed
Anticipate surgeon and team needs, providing instruments and supplies efficiently
Assist with sterile draping and preparation of surgical sites
Perform instrument, sponge, and supply counts in collaboration with the RN circulator
Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available, accurate, and functioning properly
Prepare sterile dressings and assist during all phases of the surgical procedure
Clean and prepare instruments for decontamination and sterilization
Assist with room turnover to ensure readiness for subsequent procedures
Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe surgical environment
Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and dignity at all times
Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and required training programs
Adhere to organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures
Ability to remain focused, organized, and composed in a fast-paced operating room environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
CRASE training preferred (required if assignment exceeds six months)
Previous operating room experience
Strong anticipation skills and ability to support surgical teams proactively
Ability to adapt quickly and perform effectively in high-acuity situations
