Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: Days Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM On-Call: Weekend/weekday rotation required (7-10 times per month, including every 4-5th weekend.) Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

  • Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure proper sterilization of instruments
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs
  • Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and post-procedure
  • Support patient positioning and surgical site preparation (draping)
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and OR team members to ensure efficient workflow
  • Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years'' experience (surgical setting preferred).
  • Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties (i.e., General, Ortho, Urology, and GYN).
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Two to three years of experience working in an operating room setting or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) upon hire, and maintain current
  • Must be proficient in the following specialties within 6 months: a. Gen b. Gyn c. Urol d. Vasc e. ENT/Plastics
  • Must be proficient in one of the following specialties within 6 months: a. Major Vascular b. Ortho c. Neuro
  • Proficient is defined as an associate who can perform cases in that specialty independently.
