Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:

 

Responsibilities

The Surgical Tech handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.

He/she understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.

He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

 

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Meet at least one of the following:

Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Complete a Surgical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NASSTA).

Gain experience as a Surgical Tech in a hospital or surgical facility.
