    • Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital, and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, an adult intensive care unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, Center of Excellence-recognized surgeons, imaging, and primary and specialty care.

    Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:

    Responsibilities:
    • Assist with the nursing care of patients preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of the department and hospital practice and policies.
    • Responsible for the preparation and disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation – pre, intra, and post-operatively.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of principles of asepsis.

    • Demonstrate knowledge of the standards of AORN guidelines.

    • Assume responsibility for clinical competence and professional development.

    • Participate in the responsible management of all departmental resources.

    • Takes calls as required by the department.

    Qualifications:

    Job Requirements:

    • Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or Certified Surgical Technologist
    • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
