Surgical Technologist – CVOR

Location: Gastonia, NC

Type: Travel Contract (13 Weeks)

Pay: $54/hr – $61/hr

Shift & Schedule: Day Shift | 8-Hour Shifts

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist – CVOR to support cardiovascular and open-heart surgical procedures in a large acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong CVOR experience, advanced knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and the ability to maintain a sterile environment while assisting during complex cardiovascular procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments for cardiovascular procedures.

• Assist surgeons during open-heart and cardiovascular surgeries.

• Set up, organize, and manage surgical instruments and supplies.

• Maintain sterile technique throughout all surgical procedures.

• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments and supplies promptly.

• Assist with operating room setup, patient positioning, and room turnover.

• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and sterile processing standards.

• Handle, track, and account for surgical instruments and equipment.

• Document procedures and surgical supply utilization accurately.

• Participate in emergency and on-call cardiovascular surgical cases as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA required.

• Strong recent CVOR experience required.

• Experience assisting with cardiovascular and open-heart surgical procedures.

• Experience in a large acute-care hospital environment.

• Current BLS Certification.

• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with complex cardiovascular surgical cases.

• Experience in high-volume cardiovascular operating rooms.

• Strong understanding of infection prevention protocols.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
