Surgical Technologist

Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Location: Seattle, WA 98104
Duration: 2+ months with possibilities of extension)
Shift: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM (10-hour shifts)
Workdays: 4 days per week (day off during the week varies)

Job Description / Responsibilities

• Position in this function is responsible for working with the surgical team to insure that quality care is given to the patient
• Works with team members in providing assistance to the Surgeon by being familiar with the surgical procedure, instruments, supplies and equipment
• Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
• Assists in the assessment, planning and implementation of care given to the surgical patient
• Demonstrates ability to use supplies, equipment and instruments appropriately
• Follows strict principles of aseptic technique both in procedures and in processing of equipment and instrumentation
• Demonstrates competence in assisting with surgical procedures
• Demonstrates knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures, regulatory agency requirements, quality improvement process, facility and departmental policies, procedures and protocols
• Demonstrates knowledge of Universal Precautions
• Participates in the identification and implementation of improvements in the delivery of quality care
• Responds expediently and courteously to requests for help from patients and staff
• Uses judgment in seeking consultation from circulating Nurse and other unit Nursing staff
• Maintains composure and initiates emergency care as appropriate according to ACLS guidelines
• Works with team members in the selection of supplies, instrumentation and equipment needed for patient care
• Uses, protects, and discloses patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with HIPAA standards
• Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Associates Degree
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technologists
• Prior surgical tech experience preferred in orthopedics, general surgery, gyn, urology, ENT
• Current AHA – BLS Certification
• Current Surgical Technologist registration in the state of Washington
• Professional certification required
• Occupational health screenings required
