Job Summary

To assist surgical team at the Von Voigtlander Womens Hospital operating rooms during operative procedures by preparing sterile equipment for the operation and passing instruments sponges and sutures to the operating team. Assist with inventory sterilization of instruments prepare and select equipment for procedures transfer of patients as needed turnover and transfer of instruments to CSR.

Decontamination and putting equipment back in place. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse assist in the care of the prenatal mother and newborn. Assist in the maintenance of a safe environment that supports patient needs. Assist the obstetrical team during the delivery process and other surgical procedures. Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving standing for long periods of time transporting and positioning patients and equipment as well as constantly positioning self to provide patient care and related duties.

Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team in addition to being able to take direction. Communicate with patients families and staff in a welcoming caring and professional manner. Understands and demonstrates the core concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care PFCC including Respect and Dignity Information Sharing Participation and Collaboration.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Successful completion of a surgical technologist program. Certification as a Surgical Technician through NBSTSA. 1-year current experience working as a surgical tech. Demonstrated flexibility in an extremely fast-paced environment. Demonstrated excellent communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Current experience in the care of the in-patient perinatal mother and/or newborn. Completion of a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant program with a minimum of 6 months of current experience in an unlicensed assistive role in an acute in-patient setting or 12 months current. Basic computer skills.

Work Schedule

Night Shift 1900-0700 12 hour shifts. Weekend requirement. Full time 36hrs.
