Surgical Technology Program Laboratory Assistant I
Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $35.94 depending upon qualifications
This position is an on-campus, part-time, maximum 19-hour-per-week appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

Currently seeking laboratory assistants for Fall 2026 semester.
The Surgical Technology Lab Assistant I is responsible for providing support to the surgical technology instructors. This position prepares demonstrations, organizes supplies/equipment, and observes and assists students with lab practice. The Lab Assistant is a part-time appointment on a schedule established by the Surgical Technology (SUR) Program Director. The position involves handling confidential information and records. The Lab Assistant must be able to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks.

Minimum Requirements:
Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies and the college. In addition:
Must hold a current Certified Surgical Technologist credential through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Associate Degree or diploma from an accredited surgical technology program.
Two (2) years' full time work experience as a surgical technologist in the scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both within the past five years Associate Degree or diploma from an accredited surgical technology program.
Verbal and mathematical abilities sufficient to organize the efficient use of the laboratory, operation of computers and software, and effective communication.
Ability to learn the computer laboratory resources, and new programs and equipment as technology changes.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products.
Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check. Must meet all clinical requirements including successfully completing a post offer, pre-employment clinical drug test.
