Position Details:


The Opportunity:


As the Surplus Inventory Control Specialist 2, you work under the general direction of the Surplus Supervisor to receive WSU surplus property and determine its resale or recycling viability. You drive box trucks around the Pullman campus to pick up surplus items, evaluate those items for fair market value, and list them for sale through online auctions. You notify priority and public entities about available items, set up and conduct weekly public sales and live auctions, and use computers and related software to complete assigned tasks.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.


Monthly Salary: $3,417 to $4,542 | Range 38 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.


In accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:


• Two (2) years of experience receiving and evaluating property with a large‑scale government or commercial warehouse; OR equivalent education/experience.


• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with http://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3 and departmental driving standards.


• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.


• Experience providing customer service.


• Possession of, or the ability to obtain a forklift operations certification within six (6) months of hire.


• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Experience with pricing of used supplies and equipment.


• Experience with the setup of live and online auctions.


• Experience with sales of used equipment.


• Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
