About the Role
We’re seeking a Survey CAD Technician with strong technical drafting skills and a deeper understanding of how surveying connects to real-world infrastructure. This is not a rote drafting job, it’s a chance to be part of a team that values precision, initiative, and critical thinking.
You’ll work closely with project managers and field staff to draft accurate, well-organized boundary, topographic, and utility surveys. Ideal candidates will have the ability to work independently, think through the "why" behind what they’re drawing, and produce a clean, complete work product that can be trusted without extensive revisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality survey drawings including boundary, topo, utility, and easement plans
- Draft independently from field notes, point files, and scan data
- Perform deed plotting, boundary analysis, and data checks for accuracy
- Coordinate directly with field crews and project leads to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with project QA/QC and deliverable formatting based on client or municipal standards
- Support scanning and GPR data integration into final deliverables (training provided if needed)
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in land surveying or civil drafting
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; Carlson Survey or Trimble Business Center experience a plus
- Solid understanding of boundary resolution, topographic surfaces, and utility mapping
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with municipal projects or public-sector clients
- Familiarity with 3D laser scanning, GPR, or LiDAR workflows
- Comfortable interacting with field crews and understanding their needs
Why This Role Stands Out
Real impact: You’ll be helping deliver critical data for school sites, roadways, and municipal infrastructure across South Jersey, not churning out subdivision plats.
Support + autonomy: You’ll be given the tools and trust to work independently while still having access to highly skilled teammates when you need support.
Modern tools: Work with robotic instruments, 3D scanners, and GPR - this is a tech-forward team focused on accuracy and efficiency.
Career growth: Whether you're aiming toward licensure, project management, or a deeper technical role, this position is a launch pad with long-term opportunity.
