This role is responsible for preparing accurate survey drawings, plats, exhibits, and mapping deliverables in support of land surveying and engineering projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and capable of working closely with survey crews, project managers, and professional land surveyors to produce high-quality drafting and design documents.If you're looking for a career with impact and advancement potential, we encourage you to apply.Compensation: $25–35/hour (DOE) Location: West Valley City, UT FLSA Exemption: Exempt Schedule: Monday–Friday, hours may vary based on project demandsWhat You'll Be DoingPrepare survey plats, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic maps, easement exhibits, legal description exhibits, and construction staking plansDraft survey deliverables using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other applicable software platformsProcess and incorporate field survey data from GPS, total stations, UAV, laser scanning, and conventional surveying equipmentReview survey notes, calculations, record documents, and title commitments for drafting accuracyAssist in the preparation of legal descriptions, exhibits, and right-of-way documentsCoordinate with Survey Project Managers, Professional Land Surveyors, Engineers, and Field CrewsOrganize and maintain project files, survey records, and electronic dataEnsure all deliverables comply with company standards, client requirements, and applicable regulationsAssist with data management, quality control reviews, and project documentationMeet project deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detailCommunicate effectively with internal teams regarding project status and drafting requirementsWhat You HaveHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree in Drafting, Geomatics, Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred2+ years of survey drafting experience preferredProficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3DKnowledge of boundary, topographic, and construction surveying principlesAbility to interpret field notes, legal descriptions, title documentation, and engineering plansStrong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDetail-oriented with strong organizational abilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyValid driver's licenseWhat Will Make You Stand OutExperience drafting ALTA/NSPS Land Title SurveysExperience supporting transportation, commercial, municipal, or energy-related projectsFamiliarity with GIS software and geospatial data managementExperience processing GPS, LiDAR, laser scanning, and photogrammetry dataKnowledge of state and local surveying regulationsDemonstrated ability to independently manage drafting tasks from project kickoff through final deliverableExperience mentoring junior drafters or techniciansStrong quality control and document review skillsPreferred Certifications and Technical SkillsCertified Survey Technician (CST) certification through NSPSAutoCAD Civil 3D certificationGIS experience using ESRI ArcGIS productsExperience with Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, MicroStation, or similar survey processing softwareFamiliarity with drone/UAV mapping workflows and point cloud processingUnderstanding of ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey standardsCMT Technical Services CompetenciesSuccessful team members demonstrate:Integrity and accountability in all aspects of their workStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyEffective communication and collaborationA customer-focused mindsetAdaptability in a fast-paced project environmentCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementEqual Opportunity EmployerCMT Technical Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
